The Bridge: Strengthening Connections Between Two Languages

Discover effective strategies to promote cross-linguistic transfer and strengthen biliteracy development. This half-day session explores how to help students make meaningful connections between their first and second languages through cognates, contrastive analysis and metalinguistic awareness. Participants engage with practical tools such as bilingual word walls, side-by-side texts and translanguaging strategies. $100, 3 CPE hours.

Civics Training Program (SB 3)

Two-day civics training that builds a factual foundation for teaching civics through close study of primary sources and the founding documents of the United States. Participants practise strategies for civil discourse, media literacy and simulations of governmental processes, and leave ready to lead classroom and campus instruction in civics. Texas Senate Bill 3 requires every campus to have at least one teacher and one principal who has attended an official civics training program, so this session keeps campuses compliant. Free, 12 CPE hours, for one K–5 teacher and principal per campus.
