Students dive into interactive STEM projects and experiments designed to spark creativity and a love of discovery. Fall Fling at Tellus Science Museum

A full day of fall family fun at the Southeast's favorite rock show. Watch student engineering teams compete in a pumpkin-launching contest with hand-built catapults and trebuchets, then see physics in action up close with tabletop catapult models and build your own mini cup flinger to take home. Kids can crack open a geode, have mystery rocks and fossils identified by museum experts, explore the science of fall colors with hands-on leaf creations, and visit the Observatory for a look at the Sun. Indoor and outdoor activities run 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; the Observatory is open 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Free for members; regular admission for non-members.

2026 STEM Day

A half-day program introducing students to engineering through fun, hands-on activities led by engineering professionals, scientists and STEM college students. Includes a STEM toy door prize drawing and a Parents Resource Center where families can talk to engineering professionals about STEM camps, programs and other resources. Free to attend, with snacks and drinks included. For students in grades 2-8 (2026-27 school year); all students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event — this is not a drop-off event.
