Content-Based Language (and Literacy) Instruction

English learners and emergent bilingual students in any language program must gain content knowledge while developing language skills. This half-day session explores an integrated approach in which language is developed through academic literacy inside content delivery that is culturally and linguistically sustaining. Participants leave with resources and practical routines they can use straight away. $100, 3 CPE hours.

Civics Training Program (SB 3)

Two-day civics training that builds a factual foundation for teaching civics through close study of primary sources and the founding documents of the United States. Participants practise strategies for civil discourse, media literacy and simulations of governmental processes, and leave ready to lead classroom and campus instruction in civics. Texas Senate Bill 3 requires every campus to have at least one teacher and one principal who has attended an official civics training program, so this session keeps campuses compliant. Free, 12 CPE hours, for one K–5 teacher and principal per campus.
