STAAR 101: RLA Grades 6–8

Built for grades 6–8 teachers who are new to STAAR, new to a grade level, or veterans wanting a refresher and a chance to network. The day covers the components of the STAAR reading and writing expectations, the resources available to teachers, and activities and strategies that align everyday instruction with the rigour of the state assessment. $200, 6 CPE hours.

Civics Training Program (SB 3)

Two-day civics training that builds a factual foundation for teaching civics through close study of primary sources and the founding documents of the United States. Participants practise strategies for civil discourse, media literacy and simulations of governmental processes, and leave ready to lead classroom and campus instruction in civics. Texas Senate Bill 3 requires every campus to have at least one teacher and one principal who has attended an official civics training program, so this session keeps campuses compliant.
