Building a Culture of Attendance: PreK–12 Strategies to Prevent Chronic Absenteeism

A featured CEC pre-convention workshop led by Jessica Sprick. Participants learn how to improve student attendance through universal prevention at the school and classroom level, leaving with concrete strategies for communicating the importance of regular attendance to staff, students, families and the community. Covers ways to raise student and parent awareness, motivation and reinforcement strategies that encourage regular attendance, and ways to assess and intervene with common causes of absenteeism, with examples from real schools and districts. Half-day session; separate workshop registration required.
