Teaching Short Fiction (Fall 2026 In-Person Workshop)

A one-day workshop in Austin for secondary-level language arts teachers on strategies for teaching short fiction at the secondary level. Content aligns with the TEKS, with presentations focused on the works of major nineteenth-, twentieth-, and twenty-first-century U.S. writers of short fiction and creative writing pedagogy. Teachers receive books, instructional materials, CPE credit, and up to $200 substitute reimbursement; out-of-town teachers may be reimbursed up to $300 in approved travel costs.
