A half-day program introducing students to engineering through fun, hands-on activities led by engineering professionals, scientists and STEM college students. Includes a STEM toy door prize drawing and a Parents Resource Center where families can talk to engineering professionals about STEM camps, programs and other resources. Free to attend, with snacks and drinks included. For students in grades 2-8 (2026-27 school year); all students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event — this is not a drop-off event.

STEMFor studentsInteractive workshops to introduce Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) concepts to 6th – 12th graders. FreshStart is a program of the National Society of Black Engineers – Austin Professionals (NSBE-AP), using hands-on activities to spark student interest in STEM careers and build confidence in problem-solving, design, and teamwork.
STEMFor studentsA hands-on engineering session where students design and print their own 3D creations. Each Engineering Workshop brings a new theme, with participants building and creating using a variety of materials, electronics and coding platforms. Runs 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A student drop-off program; $15 per student ($13.50 for members).
STEMFor studentsStudents take on architecture-themed engineering challenges, designing and building structures with a variety of materials in this hands-on workshop. Each session of The Engineering Workshop brings a new theme spanning art, science and technology. Runs 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A student drop-off program; $15 per student ($13.50 for members).
